I am Akshay Bharadwaj, an applied ecologist working on the interactive impacts of various anthropogenic ecological changes, from climate change to invasive species proliferation. Presently, I work as an SNSF Doctoral Fellow in the Conservation Biology Lab at the University of Neuchâtel. |

Teaching experience
I am the teaching assistant (TA) of the Bachelor-level Problem-based Learning module at University of Neuchâtel. During my undergraduation, I worked as TA for the Quantitative Ecology: Research Design and Analysis course at IISc. Conservation In addition to my research, I have been involved with several conservation programs in south India. Most notably, I was the project lead on Vultures in Vain, a bilingual awareness campaign that helped spread the cause of vulture conservation in southern India. UPDATES
- April 2024: Accepted for the SPSAS workshop on co-designing biodiversity monitoring frameworks, in Sao Paulo.
- February 2024: Began my PhD at the Conservation Biology Lab at UniNeuchatel.
- November 2023: Selected as one among 13 finalists for the Rhodes Scholarship 2024.
- October 2023: Submitted my largest grant application yet! Fingers crossed now.
- September 2023: Awarded the SQuID Student Fellowship 2023!
- July to August 2023: Worked with Prof. Clara Zemp for a BOU-funded internship at UniNeuchatel
- April 2023: Completed my master's thesis.
- March 2023: Invited by RSPB-UK as a delegate for the SAVE annual meeting in Chitwan, Nepal.
- Feb 2023: Awarded the BOU Career Development Bursary 2023!
- Dec 2022: Awarded my first research grant from the Wild Animal Initiative!
